Teresa Dennis, Portland's Celebrated Gardener

Teresa Dennis was destined to become an inspired gardener. She's been cultivating plants and flowers since age 7 when she was given a patch of her own in the family garden. She planted impatiens seeds and once she saw the beautiful blooms, she was hooked. Plants and flower were always on her mind – even in college she planted pots and delighted her friends with fresh vegetables and flowers.

In addition to designing extraordinary gardens, large and small, Teresa drew up the plans for Portland’s famed Rose Garden, enabling visitors to navigate the Garden’s many paths.

Teresa’s gardens are distinguished by how well they suit their spaces and owners. She designs gardens that complement the architectural style of the home and the natural topographical features of the land and lot. Most importantly, she co-creates gardens with her clients, taking into consideration just how they will use their outdoor spaces and their preferences in terms of plants, colors and scents.

Teresa’s gardens make optimal use of space – even the smallest urban gardens are filled with native plants, layers of lush greenery and unexpected bursts of colors.  Because most of her clients prefer to enjoy their gardens rather than work in them, Teresa often creates low maintenance gardens that surprise and delight their owners throughout the year.
